There is a mix of deep anxiety and palpable excitement in the air. This is an enormously consequential election, for country and world. Most Americans have a strong opinion on the best outcome, as we should.
But the time has come to take a deep breath, VOTE (if you haven’t yet) and wait for the results with respect for our democratic process. Let’s leave the ‘verify’ part of ‘trust and verify’ the elections to the election officers and the campaigns.
Let’s also keep in mind that we all share being Americans. Disruptive leadership and fringe groups do not represent us, and we cannot let them define us. While undeniably shaken, our democracy is (I hope and believe) strong enough to ultimately prevail.
Tomorrow’s America depends on how we VOTE, and how we handle the election outcome. We are better than the last four years. Let’s show it through participation and civility.
